Korea Story festival wows Accra with film and culture.

For a few hours on Saturday, June 6, Accra swapped its usual rhythm for a Korean-inspired experience as film lovers and culture enthusiasts filled Silverbird Cinema at Accra Mall for the 2026 Korea Story Festival, a celebration of storytelling, entertainment and cultural exchange.

For film lovers, diplomats, and members of the Korean community at the cinema, the festival offered a six-hour journey into Korean culture from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with two Korean films screened back-to-back, beginning with The Face Reader, shown from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

It follows a man from a noble family with a rare gift, the ability to read people's faces and predict their character and future. The story weaves together history, politics, and mystery in a gripping way.

The second film, A Taxi Driver, screened from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Based on real events, it follows a Seoul cab driver and a German journalist who get swept into the deadly Gwangju Uprising of 1980. It is a powerful story about ordinary people caught in extraordinary moments.

The atmosphere throughout the event was vibrant and engaging, with attendees fully immersed in the experience. Guests shared laughter, reacted enthusiastically to dramatic moments on screen, and enjoyed the programme in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Complimentary Korean snacks and beverages were also served, enhancing the overall experience.

Adding to the excitement was a raffle draw that gave attendees the opportunity to win a variety of prizes, including Korean snacks and beauty products. Several lucky participants walked away with gifts, bringing an extra layer of fun and anticipation to the festival.

Attendees took the opportunity to capture memorable moments with photographs, reconnect with friends and fellow enthusiasts, and immerse themselves in elements of Korean culture brought to life in the heart of Accra.

The event received support from Rafimex General Trading Co., Samyang, The Goodskn Co., and SKN Studio, whose contributions helped make the occasion memorable for patrons.
