Eidul Fitr Message 2026 - Sheikh Hajj Umar Ibrahim

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatuhu. All praise is due to Allah (SWT), who has granted us the strength to complete the sacred month of Ramadan. On this joyous day of Eidul Fitr, I extend my warmest congratulations and prayers to the Muslim Ummah in Ghana and across the globe. May Allah accept our fasting, prayers, and acts of charity as a means of seeking His pleasure.

As we celebrate this milestone, it is essential to reflect on the long-term well-being of our community. True spiritual growth must be matched by the pursuit of stability and self-reliance. I wish to address the following pillars for the advancement of our Ummah:

Economic Empowerment & Wealth Creation:

I urge our brothers and sisters to move beyond temporary relief toward sustainable economic independence. We must actively seek avenues for wealth creation that align with Islamic principles. I encourage our youth to embrace entrepreneurship, vocational training, and professional excellence to build a robust economic foundation for their families and the nation. The Quran says ‘The earth and its resources are created for the benefit of all’ (55:10).

The Power of Consultation (Shura):

Progress is born from collective wisdom. I call on our leaders, scholars, (sarakuna zango- zango chiefs) and professionals to prioritize Shura (consultation) in all communal affairs. By listening to diverse perspectives and working through established leadership structures, we can avoid the pitfalls of division and move forward with a unified vision.
Believers are defined as those "who respond to their Lord, establish prayer, and whose affair is determined by consultation among themselves" (42:38).

Even the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was commanded to seek counsel: "...and consult them in the matter. Then when you have decided, rely upon Allah" (3:159).

Collective Action & Unity:

Economic empowerment cannot be achieved in isolation. We must work together pooling our resources, expertise, and networks to establish institutions that serve the needy and create jobs. Let us support one another’s businesses and initiatives, recognizing that a "strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than a weak believer."
As we return to our homes, let us carry the discipline and compassion of Ramadan into our daily lives. Let us remain law-abiding citizens and beacons of peace in our communities.

Eid Mubarak to you and your families!
Wassalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah.
