Message of his eminence the national chief Imam on the occasion of eid-al-fitr 2026

His Eminence the National Chief Imam, Shaikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, congratulates the Muslim fraternity on the successful end of fasting in the Holy Month of Ramadan and the observation of Eid-Al-Fitr.

He, however, advises the Ummah to celebrate the Eid within the bounds of decency, modesty, and legality.

Ideally, the Grand Imam explains, all Muslims who have fasted are expected to gain their fair share of piety at the end of the Holy Month as stated in Quran Chapter 2 Verse 183.

Therefore, His Eminence suggests, the divine reward should reflect in our behaviors. Indeed, it should mould us as people whose behaviors conform to the norms of society and the laws of the state, he emphasizes.

In the words of the Revered Imam, the quantity of spiritual cleansing acquired in the Holy Month of Ramadan is meaningless unless it has the capacity to guarantee the quality of attitudinal transformation in the interest of society.

His Eminence describes Eid-Al-Fitr as a period not only for celebration, but also for reflection. Therefore, at this moment of divine blessing, let us enjoy and reflect on values that are central to the wellbeing of humanity, he counsels.

He calls on all Ghanaians to prioritize patriotism, humanitarianism, and collectivism, “as we strive to build a secular state characterized by cultural diversity and interfaith harmony.”

In conclusion, His Eminence prays for justice in the world, peace in the Middle East, stability in Africa, and prosperity in Ghana.

Happy Eid-Al-Fitr.
