Talensi: Police intercept dangerous weapons
The Police have intercepted a number of dangerous weapons at the Talensi constituency of the Upper East Region where voting was underway in the Talensi by-election.

The weapons were intercepted at police check points at Tongo, the capital of Talensi following a search on vehicles which were entering the town.
They included machetes and axe. Some reports said the weapons intercepted included an AK 47 rifle and a pistol but Graphic Online’s Upper East correspondent Vincent Amenuveve covering the elections said the police are tight lipped on the incident except to say that investigations were underway.
According to Amenuveve between 10:00am and 12:30am while voting was ongoing, a group of irate youth stormed the police station and complained that the police were partial in dealing with cases of abnormalities.
They said they did not understand why the police would arrest a suspect with a demo ballot paper who was apparently educating some eligible voters but allowed some suspects who were allegedly carrying cutlasses and axe to go scot-free after seizing the weapons.
According to our reporter, the police themselves remained tight lipped on all the incidents but rather said they were conducting investigations into the allegations.
Although the security personnel at the various checkpoints just before you enter the Tongo town were vigilant some people raised concerns that they allegedly allowed some people to pass through the check point without properly screening them.
There were reports of a group of thugs wearing green shirts with the inscription "security" written at their backs going round polling stations terrorizing voters.

At Gorogo in the outskirts of the Tongo town, residents who interacted with Graphic Online intimated that one member of the thug was nearly lynched. The residents could not tell where the thugs were coming from.
At one of the polling stations located within the premises of the Tongo District Electoral Commission Office, some politicians and electoral officers were monitoring events there.
The Upper East Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr James Arthur-Yeboah said everything was going on peacefully.
Our correspondent reported that the 2012 Flagbearer of the People's National Convention (PNC) Mr Hassan Ayariga and the Founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) Madam Akua Donkor were spotted at that polling station.
Madam Akua Donkor was confident that despite the controversy between her and the GFP candidate, they will still win the elections.
The Talensi by-election has become necessary following the enskinment and subsequent resignation of the incumbent Member of Parliament for Talensi, Mr Robert Nachinab Doameng Mosore, who has been installed as the Paramount Chief of the Tongo Traditional Area.
