THE 2025 Renewable Energy Forum Africa (REFA), which aims to accelerate investment, innovation and collaboration across Africa’s renewable energy sector, has been slated for December 3-4 this year in Accra.
The two-day event is being organised by the Africa Solar Industry Association (AFSIA) in partnership with SolarPower Europe, Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and the Swiss State Economic Cooperation (SECO).
A release issued by AFSIA said Ghana’s Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, will deliver the official keynote address to inaugurate REFA.
It said his participation underscored the government's strong commitment to advancing sustainable energy and driving the country’s green transition.
“Following Cape Town (2022) and Nairobi (2023), REFA 2025 is coming to West Africa. It will bring together institutional and private investors, project developers, energy utilities, government policymakers, regulators, corporations, and sector decision-makers to connect, exchange and advance Africa’s energy transition,” it said.
The Deputy Head of Cooperation, Embassy of Switzerland, Magdalena Wüst, said Ghana stood as a beacon of economic growth and progress in West Africa, and Switzerland was honoured to further strengthen its partnership with Ghana as the country pursued its ambitious goals for sustainable development.
She said through initiatives such as the Ghana Solar Photovoltaic Net-Metering Project, Switzerland supports Ghana’s vision to generate at least 10 per cent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
“Together, we are empowering communities, enhancing the resilience of the energy sector, and advancing a cleaner and more sustainable future,” she said.
According to the release, many more players from the renewable energy financing ecosystem will participate in REFA 2025 to meet with project developers from Ghana and across the continent.
This backing, it said, underscored the forum’s credibility and alignment with international climate and development objectives.
Activities
On the evening of the first day of REFA, the AFSIA Awards 2025 will unveil the best players of the year in the African solar and storage industry sector among various categories.
The AFSIA Awards 2025, the sector’s leading ceremony, will recognise the excellence, vision, creativity and achievements of companies and professionals driving growth in the African solar industry.
