Banking Awards launch today

The 15th Ghana Banking Awards, organised by Corporate Initiative Ghana (CIG), will be launched today at the British Council in Accra.

The launch of the awards, which has become the most prestigious event on the country’s financial services calendar, will be chaired by Dr Samuel Ankrah, an investment banker and Chief Executive Officer of the Gam-Ank Group. The President of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Mr Asare Adjei, will be the guest speaker.

A release co-signed by the Chairman of the Awards Planning Board, Nana Otuo Acheampong, and the Director of Media/Programmes, Mr Charles Benoni Okine, in Accra said in attendance would be members of the technical committee made up of representatives of all the participating banks, including the events statisticians, Ernst &Young, a world renowned accounting firm, and Rims Consult, a reputable research company.

It said the event would also be attended by some blue chip companies which had already pitched to partner this year’s awards as they attempt to leverage the platform to enhance visibility of their brands.

The release said the event would be used to announce some details of review of the awards methodology which was agreed upon at the last technical committee meeting, as well as the date for the awards, the theme, among other things.
