Develop tenacity to overcome challenges, young entrepreneurs urged

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sweet Mother Candy and Beyond Company, Mr Musah Trawill, has admonished young entrepreneurs to develop tenacity to enable them to overcome challenges in life for them to succeed.

He said young entrepreneurs could make their dreams come true if only they could think outside the box, adding that they also needed to undergo internship and mentorship programmes for them to acquire skills to become better businessmen and women to impact the business world.

Mr Trawill, a young Ghanaian entrepreneur based in the United States (US), said this in a presentation at a conference and panel sessions at the US-Africa Youth Entrepreneurship Summit (USAYES 2018) held at the University of Chicago – Logan Performance Centre.

He indicated that it was important for Africans living abroad, especially well-established entrepreneurs, to strive to build enterprises back home to help solve the unemployment problems in the country.

Passion

According to Mr Trawill, for a young entrepreneur to become successful in his or her business, there was the need to develop love for the job and pay particular attention to the shortfalls in the business by putting in place the necessary mechanisms to solve every problem that might come his or her way.

Mr Trawill was of the view that some young entrepreneurs were not doing well on the international market because some of their products could not stand the test of time.

Ability to start

Mr Trawill observed that the willpower to start a business was when one decided to implement his or her business plan to make it happen no matter the difficulty one might encounter.

He said when he started his confectionery business nine years ago, there were a lot of obstacles in his way but with determination and focus on why the company was established, he had been able to make a mark.

He, therefore, encouraged the youth to work hard to secure a better future for the next generation to come.
