Mackay Company Limited opens new warehouse

Mackay Company Limited, distributors of drinkables, has inaugurated its renovated head office and warehouse building at Chorkor Lanteman in Accra, aimed at expanding its services.

The project cost about GH¢800,000 and is a three-storey block and warehouse which can accommodate 25,000 cartons of drinks.

The Sales Director of Accra Brewery Limited Company (ABL), Mr Michel Oreleman, assisted by Mrs Victoria Anim-Mackay, Secretary to the Mackay Company Board of Directors and Naa Sakua Adanse Kootse I, cut a tape to declare the head office and warehouse officially opened.

The Managing Director of Mackay Company Limited, Nii Ankrah Mackay, briefing the Daily Graphic said the head office comprised a reception, managing director’s office, boardroom, conference room, an operations and accounts office, among others.

He said work on the project, which began last year and completed ahead of schedule, involved the uplift of their administration office into the three-storey building and expansion of their warehouse, which hitherto had a storage capacity of 12,000 cartons.

In addition, he said, the company had procured a forklift costing 35,000 euros with the assistance of their bankers, SG-SSB Bank to enhance their operations.

Nii Ankrah Mackay added that three years ago, the ABL drew the attention of its key distributors to the modernation of their operations to supply more drinks to them and, therefore, there was the need for them to expand their warehouses to accommodate more products.

“Currently, they sell between 1,200-1,500 cartons a day and have increased their staff from 27 to 43,” he said.

He complained about the activities of trotro drivers who operate illegally in front of their office and thus appealed to the appropriate authorities to bring them to book. 

The managing director said his company, established in 1981, relocated from their head office at the Accra High Street to their present location as a result of the traffic situation.

The Sales Director of ABL, Mr Michel Oreleman said the ABL had initiated measures to expand their business and boost their production.

He commended Mackay Company for their expansion work and expressed the hope that it would help them to offer reliable and efficient services to their customers.
