PureLube wins top prize at 2025 AgriTech Challenge Pro

PureLube has emerged as the top winner of the 2025 AgriTech Challenge Pro, walking away with a prize of USD25,000 at the close of the two-day pitch competition hosted by the Kosmos Innovation Centre (KIC) in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.

The event, held at the KNUST Business School in Kumasi from May 22 to 23, showcased a wealth of ideas by young Ghanaian entrepreneurs aimed at transforming the agricultural sector through innovation and technology.

The annual AgriTech Challenge Pro is a flagship platform that seeks to support and scale promising agribusiness ventures with the potential to generate employment and drive economic growth.

This year’s edition featured 43 start-ups presenting their business models before a panel of judges, known as the Ideation Team, who provided expert critique and recommendations.

Closely following PureLube, Ecobroma secured USD20,000 in seed funding to support the next phase of its agribusiness development. Thirteen other start-ups each received USD10,000 for their innovative solutions.

These include Zenags Organics, Mushplus Agri-Foods, MelDak Agro, AgriEase, Fibrelux, Tomavi Wines, Congam Stainless Charcoal, Danny Machinery, EcoLeap, BioSpace Gh, and Earth-Allies.

In addition, twenty other promising ventures were awarded USD5,000 each. These are Peanut Pride, Millbles, BIAQ Golden Cycle, Soyko Agro Foods, GardPath Technologies, Peli Natural Glow, MilkyWorld, Growth Line Farm-Tech, and Premium Biofert.

The winners not only receive seed capital but also gain entry into KIC’s Business Incubation Program, where they will benefit from continued mentorship and access to a broad network of industry experts and business partners.

“This year’s AgriTech Challenge Pro has once again showcased the brilliance and resilience of Ghana’s youth. The innovative solutions presented today reaffirm the transformative power of agriculture and technology in driving economic growth and sustainability,” said Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, Executive Director of the Kosmos Innovation Centre.

The programme places a strong emphasis on moving beyond ideas to practical, market-ready solutions, incorporating market research, viability studies, and team building. It is designed not only to inspire innovation but also to create businesses that are scalable, resilient, and capable of long-term impact.

As Ghana positions agriculture at the centre of its development agenda, the AgriTech Challenge Pro continues to serve as a launchpad for youth-driven solutions that respond to pressing challenges in food production, sustainability, and value addition. The 2025 edition has reinforced the role of agritech in shaping a new future for Ghana’s food systems and rural economy.
