Software to aid collaboration among freight forwarders launched in Accra
A new software known as swiftly, which is to aid in the collaboration of transport goods has been launched in Accra.

The initiative of a Ghanaian private company, Iyris Key Operators (IKO) is to allow businesses to share extra space in their cargo with others, while transporting goods by sea, air or land, and share the cost.
Swiftly works by pushing all matches made on the platform to freight forwarders, so as to bring a lot of business to them.
Launching the software in Accra, the Deputy Minister of Transport, Ms Joyce B. Mogtari, in a speech read on her behalf, by the Director of Roads, Transport and Research at the Ministry, Mr Lawrence Kumi commended the firm for the innovation.
She said Information Communication Technology (ICT), had transformed the world into a global village, leading to a collapse of traditional trade barriers and widening frontiers.
Therefore, Ms Mogtari was excited to see young people being creative in developing software to be used in adapting the evolving world.
The government, Ms Mogtari said would commence a $1.5 billion Tema expansion project to allow the port to handle thrice its current traffic, “meaning that it will be able to accommodate the larger vessels, increase container handling capacity and boost general productivity at the port.
In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IKO, Mr Edem Kwame Dotse said he noticed a lapse in the shipping and delivery industry, and believed that there was an opportunity for people to have cheaper services and avoid waste when shipping by land, air or sea, hence the research to develop the software.

He said, the team had worked on the security and assured its prospective users not to be worried, encouraging all freight forwarders to hook up to their facility .
