Amakye Dede for Akwaaba Jam

Easter is just around the corner and as usual, all roads lead to the Kwahu Ridge where most of the activities to mark the ocassion will be concentrated at. But this time around, the people of Akyem Nsuta and its environs will also catch the ‘Easter fever’ as they are treated to a three-day concert dubbed, Akwaaba Jam.

The concert which is being organised by Media Excel will be held at the Pradise Resort on Thursday, April 2, Good Friday and on Easter Monday. 

The Akwaaba Jam will feature some of the renowned names in the Ghanaian music industry. They include highlife legend, Abrantie Amakye Dede, Supt Kofi Sarpong, female gospel artistes, Joyce Blessing, Gifty Osei, Rose Adjei and hiplife artiste, Kwaw Kesse.

It will be a fun filled time with Abrantie on Good Friday, April 3. He  received  huge applause for his great showmanship at last Saturday’s GN Bank Awards and the ‘Serious Man’ is expected to repeat the feat when he leads the pack of performers at the jam next week.

Known for popular songs such as Odo Handkerchief, Sokoo Na Nmaa Pe, Nsuo Amuna and Odo Mfoni, Abrantie Amakye Dede, who has also won the admiration of many young followers will be backed by the Apollo High Kings band. 

But before Good Friday, the festive mood will be activated with performances from Supt Kofi Sarpong,  Joyce Blessing, Gifty Osei, Rose Adjei and hiplife artiste, Kwaw Kesse, on Thursday, April 2.

According to Mr Kwesi Ennin, CEO OF Media Excel,  the Akwaaba Jam is aims at “sharing and taking the Easter spirit and fun to other places apart Kwahu”.

He told Showbiz,  Easter is a time for family re-union, hence, the Easter Monday will be used for a picnic to breed social harmony and peaceful co-existence among the patrons.
