As a sign of his gratitude to God, Esaias last Tuesday released a brand new single titled, Oye Adie Yie.

The song is a contemporary gospel song which talks about what the Lord has done and how far He has brought him. In the song, Esaias testifies that God is able to turn what humans have rejected into the envy of everyone.

Esaias sings of the days when he performed secular music but vows to praise the Lord with all his might. He says that all the wonderful things in his life can only be attributed to the glory and blessings of God because he has wiped away his shame and tears.

Combining English and Twi for his delivery on the song, Esaias displays a remarkable mastery of both languages. The song has a catchy melody and chorus which sets it apart from the type of gospel music done in the country and is sure to appeal to the youthful audience. The instrumentation on the song complements it as well.

In an interview with Esaias, he revealed that during the two years he was bedridden (2003 to 2005), doctors couldn’t diagnose his ailment. He, however, admits that he believes the condition was God’s way of warning him to stop his notorious lifestyle and dedicate his life to Him.

Touching on his latest work, Esaias explained that Oye Adie Yie, is an Akan slang which refers to way-side tailors who do alterations. An Oyie adie yie, will not hesitate to fix an outfit regardless of the state it is in.

“All these can be likened to the warmth and receptive persona of Jesus Christ who chooses the notorious and weak people like me to glorify,” he said.

“During the two years I was ill, I personally overheard a group of women in my neighbourhood talking about me being up to no good and therefore deserved to die from the illness.

“ Contrary to their expectation, God heard my cry and not only healed me but has honoured me as well. I am truly the stone that the builders rejected that has become the chief corner stone,” he said.
