Papi of 5five goes solo
AFTER a seven-year hiatus, Papi of music trio 5five, has announced his intention to exit the group and go solo.
According to Papi, real name Luther Azameti, the group had some challenges to deal with but after reaching an agreement he realised he had to go at things on his own.
“My other partners are not interested in pursuing music again and since I am interested I have to allow them to be and work alone. I started on my own before I had Juno and Killi join me to make up the 5five group but I guess it is about time I started on my own again,” he told Graphic Showbiz recently.
Papi acknowledged that the road will be tough but he was willing to fight to attain individual success.
“It is difficult for Ghanaians to accept an individual when a group splits but I believe I am going to make that impact because I have the talent and what it takes to make hits. I just have to keep doing good songs and I know Ghanaians will accept me in no time,” he stated.
Sharing his views on groups splitting up, Papi said people who want to come together in a group must make their intentions known.
“Some members are not truthful about whether or not they want to pursue music as their sole career and they stop along the way when the group has been accepted by Ghanaians. That is what happened to us. My other group members are busy doing other things while I am very focused on music,” he said.
Papi said he had rebranded to Papi Adabraka as a way of celebrating Adabraka which is his hood. He is now signed onto Bullhaus and his first work as a solo artiste will be released in December.
5Five released songs such as Move Back (Muje Baya), Number One Fan, Pretty Girl, African Gurlz, Gargantuan Lady, Excuse Me, Money, Lamiokor, Sixty Nine and Daddy.
