The new piece is called Centre and will be included in an album being planned by the Nungua-born artiste whose last single was titled Born In Accra. All his songs are available for download  via iTunes.

According to Akan, the decision to pre-release the song via iTunes was to explore new opportunities and to reach out to the outside world to showcase his brand of music.

“I have spent time, energy and money to come out with something I believe is of high quality and danceable for any social occasion,” Akan who employs hiplife, Afro-beat and R&B to create his style of music says.

Centre is a groovy mid-tempo piece that says something to our ladies about decency. It bemoans the bad attitude of some ladies who think the only way to make it in life is to rely on men which eventually doesn’t augur well for their future.

“It is difficult to categorise my music because I have been influenced by a wide range of music. I listened to a lot of rap and R&B music while growing up, hence my love for rap music,” he told Showbiz.

The song, recorded by producer Nshona Music, is rendered mostly in Ga and Twi and is largely a fun piece.

Akan’s career in music started some 13 years ago but was put on hold at a point to find time and organise appropriate resources. He joined hands with a couple of friends at a point but the partnership did not fly and he went back to being a solo act.

“I have spent time researching a lot of things in music while working on new songs. I’m back with a bang now and everyone should listen out for more hits from me,” Akan confidently stated.
