TLS out with Stop Galamsey

The illegal mining menace and its resultant problems such as the destruction of the environment, loss of lives among others is what has motivated a group of individual artistes to come together under the name Top Level Squad (TLS), to release a single titled Stop Galamsey.

The artistes, seven in number, are Ras MK, Ayisi, K.Rock, Yhorb Khid, Linking, Moni Kaline and Roizy. In an interview with Showbiz, a member of the group, Ayisi, said members of the group decided to release their single in order to add their voice to the effort at ending the Galamsey problem.

The single which was released together with a video is unique in the sense that it addresses the issue from both the side of the illegal miners, who are trying to earn a living and that of citizens who want the menace curtailed.

In the song, Ayisi who represents the Galamsey operators argues that he engages in illegal mining activities to feed his family. However the other members of the group argue that the destruction of forests, water bodies and other natural resources is a threat to the present generation as well as future generations.

The music video which was released with the single employs drone footage to show how much destruction Galamsey has caused to many communities and waterbodies across the country.

Although the artistes on the song are young, they do a relatively good job of getting their point across using different genres and languages.

Ras MK, another member of the group said as musicians, using music is the only medium they have to get their message across to the public and show support for the anti-galamsey effort in the country.
