AK blames media for celeb beefs

Rows among celebs is nothing new. While some have been mere publicity stunts, others have gone on to fester resulting in some parties involved paying dearly even sometimes with their lives.

In Ghana, beefs among celebs have not ended in fatalities but some have gone very nasty and female Dancehall artiste, AK Songstress, puts the blame squarely on the doorsteps of the media.

According to Paradise Entertainment act who has been a ‘victim’ of these celebrity squabbles which creates tension in the industry, the media in the quest to drive traffic to their websites or attract a wide listenership or readership thrive on these squabbles at the detriment of artistes involved.

“ I blame the media for the enmity among us. Now when you go for an interview, you are indirectly being asked to throw shade at someone because of the questions you are asked. Immediately you answer some controversial questions, the media take it out of context and the fight begins”, she said in an interview with Showbiz recently.

Citing an example, the Henya singer said; “ For insatnce, if you ask me if Kaakie is better than me, I will definitely not support such a statement becasue my brand is at stake here.
“And a simple answer can stoke a lot of controversy and then the media feed on it breeding frosty relationship between us. For me that is where it all starts and just like my beef with Kaakie, it started like that.

“ Some of the media guys in Ghana should change their way of interviewing, instead of looking out for the bad news, they should look out for more positive things and project us in that light,” the winner of the best Female Dancehall Artiste at the recently held Ghana Naija Showbiz Awards added.

Talking about her music, AK Songtress born Akosua Kwakye lamented on how her style isn’t accepted in Ghana but rather well appreciated in other countries.

“ My hardwork was appreciated when I won the Best Female Dancehall Artiste at the recently held Ghana Naija Showbiz awards. It has boosted my confidence as an artiste and I will ride on that for other successes,” the Pace Setter singer said.
