Burniton Music Group parts ways with Kelvyn Boy

CONFIRMED: Kelvyn Boy leaves Burniton Music Group

The Burniton Music Group Limited has confirmed the exit of Afrobeat singer Kelvyn Boy from the record label.

In the statement shared on Twitter, the company said it had not exercised an option to extend Kelvyn Boy's contract when it ended in January this year.

It said the move was part of a recent audit of its relationship with its officers and associated acts.

The statement said the artiste and the company went into an agreement dated on January 22, 2018, for a one year contract which was supposed to expire on January 21, 2019.

The statement further explained that though there was an option which suggested an extension for a further period of four years, the company did not trigger it.

“Accordingly, the contract extension period under the Agreement did not take effect after the Agreement expired on January 21, 2019. The above notwithstanding, the company continued to work with Kelvyn Boy until now, under the terms of the Agreement,” the statement said.

The company went further to state that, Kelvyn Boy has been released from the Agreement and for that reason will no longer be associated with the Bhimnation brand.

Stonebwoy recently unfollowed Kelvyn Boy on Instagram with rumours suggesting it was because the 'Mea' crooner was being "ungrateful".

Meanwhile, Kelvyn Boy was sighted in a video on social media apologizing to his former boss on his knees.
