Ghanaian media personality Deloris Frimpong Manso, popularly known as Delay, has questioned society’s differing attitudes towards wealthy men who date younger women and wealthy women who date younger men.
In a post on social media, Delay challenged what she sees as a double standard in how relationships involving older, financially successful partners are perceived.
“Why is it ok for rich men to be with younger women, but taboo for rich women to be with younger men?” she asked.
Her question raises concerns about the gender expectations that often shape public perceptions of romantic relationships, particularly those involving significant age differences.
While relationships between older, wealthy men and younger women are often discussed in popular culture, women who date younger men can face criticism and scrutiny over their choices.
The issue also highlights the expectations placed on women regarding age, relationships and financial independence, with questions about why similar relationship choices may attract different reactions depending on the gender of the older partner.
