Dzifa Gomashie named Minister-designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Member of Parliament for Ketu South Constituency, as the Minister-designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts in a move anticipated to bolster Ghana’s creative and cultural landscape.
The announcement was made on Thursday, January 16, 2025, signaling a renewed focus on leveraging Ghana's rich cultural heritage and dynamic creative sector.
Abla Dzifa Gomashie is a veteran actress, accomplished politician and creative arts expert with a distinguished track record spanning advocacy, youth leadership, and cultural promotion.
With decades of experience in the creative industry, she brings a wealth of knowledge to the role, blending artistic vision with policy expertise.
Before her appointment, the actress cum politician served two terms as the Member of Parliament for the Ketu South Constituency, where she spearheaded various community development initiatives.
Her tenure as Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts saw her champion the integration of theatre arts into tourism promotion, reflecting her lifelong passion for storytelling and cultural preservation.
Her academic credentials are equally remarkable. Hon. Gomashie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (First Class) and an MPhil in African Studies from the University of Ghana.
She was also honoured with a Doctorate in Leadership by the Global Centre for Transformational Leadership.
