The legendary award-winning Ghanaian gospel musician and professional banker Bernice Offei has died.
She died on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the age of 63.
She was highly revered for her soulful vocals, spiritual depth, and timeless songwriting that significantly shaped the landscape of Ghanaian gospel music.
Bernice Offei had a remarkable career spanning several decades and released six studio albums.
Her sixth album, Life (2007), became a massive success. It swept major honours at the 2009 Ghana Music Awards, where she won both Best Female Vocal Performance and Songwriter of the Year.
She was married to Prof. Samuel Kwame Offei, the former Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, and they shared two children.
Last two weeks, her family briefly appealed to the public after she went missing in Accra.
She was found safe within 24 hours.
