GWR: Nigerian man sets new record by twerking for 3 hours
Nigerian dancer Babajide Israel Adebanjo has broken new ground by setting a record for the longest twerking marathon, dancing for an incredible 3 hours and 30 minutes on January 19, 2024, in Lagos, and earning himself a place in the record books.
Confirming the record on its website, the Guinness World Records (GWR) said: “This record attempt was personal to Babajide as it was a way for him to get out of his comfort zone and to raise awareness for anyone suffering from depression all around the world’’.

Babajide embarked on this attempt to create awareness for depression while encouraging others that anyone can achieve their goal regardless of their uniqueness.
‘‘His message is that no record is too crazy, too big, too great or too little to achieve. There is always space for everyone and their unique attributes’’ they added, emphasising the inclusivity of the record attempts.
Babajide Israel Adebanjo's record-breaking twerking feat surpasses the previous record held by Elena Sofie Sterlini, an Austrian dancer who set the bar at 2 hours and 1 minute on January 3, 2023. Adebanjo's impressive 3 hours and 30 minutes twerking marathon has now raised the stakes, setting a new challenge for future record aspirants.
