HE has a repertoire literally bursting at the seams with bangers, so it’s little surprise Dancehall star Samini wants to shift focus. He is more interested in pushing young acts than in making his next hit.
Given that there’s nothing more fulfilling than giving back to society and making an impact, the Linda hitmaker wants to put the spotlight on budding artistes from his home base, Dansoman, Accra.
He plans to use this year's December edition of Samini Xperience to showcase rising talents from the community and give them greater exposure.
Speaking at the recent media launch of Samini Xperience at the Kegali Hotel, Accra, he said creating opportunities for young acts came with his experience and position in the industry.
"The energy I'm known for comes with a responsibility to return home, bring that vibe to Dansoman (DC) and most importantly, use my platform to support the growing number of young talents coming up.
"I don't need to sing or write another hit song in 2026; I have a whole lot of young people to push.
"I want to create a platform where young acts can showcase their talents to the world and prove that there is a new generation of DC that the world is not ready for yet.
"I have received so much diverse and creative work from young people in the community and the least I can do is create a platform for them, bring the world to Dansoman and show it what we have to offer," he said.
Samini, who helped nurture talents such as Kofi Kinaata through his High Grade Family record label, said Dansoman had a growing pool of young creatives whose work deserves greater visibility. He wants to use his influence to help them reach wider audiences.
Reflecting on his career, he said he felt fortunate to have stayed relevant as the music industry moved from cassette tapes and CDs to digital platforms.
He believes established musicians have a role to play in helping younger artistes gain exposure.
Samini Xperience is scheduled for December 24 as part of the week-long DC Carnival, also known as Dan Carnival, an event organised with the Dansoman Municipal Assembly from December 18 to 24.
Explaining the partnership, Samini said, "This is a collaboration between my private outdoor event and the traditional carnival, which is part of the homecoming celebration. This makes the event bigger and allows us to bring everyone together.
"While the rest of Dansoman holds its own activities, I will also have my event, but collectively, we will come together as one family and make the world a smaller place.
"From December 18 to 24, there will be a series of events to bring people together and showcase what Dansoman has to offer. We welcome others who want to be part of this initiative," he said.
He, however, pointed out that Samini Xperience differs from his Saminifest concert series, which takes performances to different parts of the country.
Samini Xperience, he said, is a homecoming event meant to bring fans together, while putting Dansoman on the map.
