'Jewel of the Volta' now ready
Being stigmatised with HIV is enough to discourage anyone living with AIDS but upcoming actress Joyce Dzidzor has decided to educate the public on the awareness of HIV through her movie Jewel Of The Volta.

The movie which features actors John Dumelo, Vicky Zugah, Ecow Smith Asante and herself is a true life story of the challenges Joyce went through as an HIV patient.
Directed by movie producers Innocent China and Winn Dravie, Jewel Of The Volta, which will be on the market from Friday, March 21, also throws light on why people living with AIDS should not be neglected by the society.
Speaking to Showbiz, Joyce who has lived with HIV for the past seven years said it has not been easy as an HIV patient but she is grateful she is now accepted by the society.
“I was thrown out of my home by my landlord when he realised I was HIV positive, I had to struggle on the streets until God sent someone to rescue me.” she said.
Happily married with two kids who are all HIV negative, Joyce said she came out with the movie to tell the public there is life after HIV.
“Due to the stigma associated with the disease, a lot of HIV patients shy away from making known to the public the disease which slowly kills them. It is very important for every HIV patients to come out and receive medical attention but because of the stigma most of them shy away. For the past seven years now I have lived because I take the right medication”
Part I and 2 of the movie was premiered in November last year at the National Theatre but the 3 and 4 parts were completed last month.

Asked how she was able to recruit top actors John Dumelo, Vicky Zugah and Ecow Smith-Asante to play in her movie, Joyce said she didn’t have to struggle convincing the actors. They gladly agreed to work with her when she explained the concept to them.
Now, Joyce who is spreading the good news about HIV awareness said she is willing to work with any movie producer who needs her services.
