He mentioned that movie premieres should be useful avenues for filmmakers as it gives them a chance to recoup some of their investments, and for movie lovers, an opportunity to get up close to their favourite actors.

“Premieres are the way forward. The likes of Yvonne Nelson and Kobi Rana have shown us the way by filling places such as Silverbird Cinemas back to back when they premiere their movies.

“By the numbers that turn out for the premieres, it shows that people are still very much interested in Ghanaian movies. We just have to position ourselves and market them very well,” he stated.

According to Borbor, premieres push producers to come out with high-quality movies as their productions will be rejected if they do not meet the standards of the cinemas.

“Every movie producer knows that their movie has to be of a certain standard before it will be accepted by the cinema and because of that, they will go for the best cameras to shoot their movies.

“In this regard, let’s not be too quick to write off the prospects of the movie industry since it is not dead as some industry players are pushing,” he stated.
