Parents urge Miley to calm down

Miley Cyrus' parents reportedly gave her a "furious" lecture following her latest photo scandal.

Earlier this month, the National Enquirer published a picture of Miley at work in a recording studio. She was wearing a onesie and a table festooned with what appeared to be drugs paraphernalia was visible.

The 22-year-old star hasn't commented on it, but she's been open about taking illicit substances in the past. While she might not be too concerned, her parents, Billy Ray and Tish, apparently were.

"She got a lecture from her mum and dad - they were furious and she agreed to be more careful who she hangs out with in the studio," an insider told British magazine, Heat.

“Her mum is especially worried about her going off the rails - there's even been talk in her team about an intervention. Everyone worries she's a car crash waiting to happen."

There are apparently concerns this could be part of a bigger issue for Miley. While she hasn't been in the press much of late, behind the scenes she is said to have been testing herself.

"She's really pushing her health to the limit at the moment, getting, like, three hours sleep a night. But she's convinced it's no big deal," the source said.

"She's so liberal about drug-taking and thinks she talks about it so much, that this photo shouldn't be a shock to anyone. She hates the idea of being a role model."

Miley rose to fame on Disney show, Hannah Montana, and has struggled with growing up in the spotlight. She was criticised when she debuted an edgier image and it's been suggested her skimpy stage outfits don't send out a good message to young fans.

In 2013, she added further fuel to the flames by expressly talking about drugs with Rolling Stone.

"I think weed is the best drug on earth. One time I smoked a joint with peyote in it, and I saw a wolf howling at the moon," she claimed. "Hollywood is a coke town, but weed is so much better. And molly, too. Those are happy drugs ' social drugs.

“They make you want to be with friends. You're out in the open. You're not in a bathroom. I really don't like coke. It's so gross and so dark. It's like what are you, from the nineties? Ew."
