Nero X on depending on controversy

Relying on controversy is outmoded—Nero X

CONTROVERSY might have worked as the lifeline for some artistes but singer Nero X believes it as an outmoded strategy to stay relevant on the music scene.

And it is high time artistes who depended on controvesy to change their style because it has become ineffective in recent times.

According to him, the industry is getting very competitive each day and relying on controversies instead of quality works doesn’t guarantee success.

To him, while it might have worked for some artistes by helping their career blossom, the Hossana singer pointed out it might not be same for every artiste.

“There is no way I will create something controversial to trend either to promote a song or make myself popular.

"I prefer my works do the talking for me to sell my music and push my brand.

“This is because when controversy is the reason my song is trending, it will quickly fade away as soon the story loses its relevance and then what becomes of the song and me?

"Creating controversy to push music works has become the order of the day but I think it is also killing creativity and hard work.

“A good song always speak for itself. Kofi Kinaata’s songs top charts but has he ever been mixed up in negative or controversial news?

"His songs do the talking since he puts talent, hard work and creativity over gimmicks,” Nero X said.

In the last three years, Nero X has not been active in the music space but he told Graphic Showbiz he’s been pursuing other equal relevant ventures.

“Sometimes, you need to take a break, pursue other things to learn new skills. Whiles at that, I was keenly monitoring things to help me come back stronger.

"At the moment, I’m ready with a new single titled Shame featuring Kweku Darlington,” he said.

The new single which is about shaming your enemies was released a month ago. He said Shame is picking up on some radio stations and other music platforms.

Nero X is known for songs such as Yawa Dey, Nyame Dadaw, Otan, Hosanna and Winner.
