Ghanaian dancehall artiste Samini is set to put Dansoman in the spotlight this Christmas with the launch of Samini Xperience 2026, an upgraded homecoming event designed to celebrate his roots and create opportunities for emerging talents from the community.
The event, scheduled for December 24, will form part of the DC Carnival, also known as Dan Carnival, being organised in collaboration with the Dansoman Municipal Assembly.
Activities for the week-long celebration will run from December 18 to 24, featuring a series of community and musical events aimed at showcasing Dansoman’s culture, talent and entertainment potential.
Speaking at the media launch on Friday, October 16, at Kegali, Dansoman in Accra, Samini explained that Samini Xperience was different from his established Saminifest concert series, which was conceived to take performances to different parts of the country.
“Saminifest started as a series of concerts held across the country, but Samini Xperience is a homecoming concept held at a particular venue to give my fans and patrons a good time while celebrating the community that shaped me,” he said.
He said the initiative was a way of paying homage to Dansoman, where he grew up and began the journey that propelled him to national and international recognition.
Beyond celebrating his personal connection to the area, Samini said he wanted to use the platform to nurture emerging artistes from Dansoman and give them the exposure they needed to develop their careers.
He explained that his vision was to groom young talents and provide opportunities for them to showcase their abilities without limiting their potential.
Samini expressed optimism about the collaboration with the Dansoman Municipal Assembly, saying the joint initiative would make this year’s celebration bigger and more impactful.
“This is going to be bigger because the rest of Dansoman would have done their own and then I will come and do my own thing. But collectively, we will come together as one family and bring the world to come and see what we have,” he said.
He added that the activities from December 18 to 24 would be designed to promote Dansoman and bring greater attention to the community.
Samini also assured patrons of an exciting experience and called on corporate organisations to support the initiative.
Representatives of the Dansoman Municipal Assembly welcomed the partnership, describing it as a positive development for the municipality.
They explained that the Assembly had already conceived the idea of organising a carnival for the area before Samini approached it, a development that paved the way for the collaboration.
The partnership brings together the artiste’s musical platform and the Assembly’s community-focused carnival concept, with both parties seeking to showcase Dansoman through entertainment and cultural activities.
Samini Xperience is expected to provide an avenue for residents, music lovers and visitors to celebrate the community while giving emerging artistes an opportunity to connect with wider audiences.
