Stanbic Bank welcomes Christmas

Filling the two ball rooms of Movenpick Ambassador Hotel last weekend,  staff of Stanbic Ghana held an enjoyable Thanksgiving Service and Carol Concert to usher in the Christmas season.

Guests were charmed with performance after performance mostly by bankers who had turned into choristers for the special night. With the choirs singing from the purpose-built  stage, guests were sent into their childhood when celebrating Christmas was eagerly anticipated.

Whoever heard of reading the book of Luke in Chinese? Well, the nine in-house choirs sang the nine carol lessons that were read in languages as diverse as Chinese, Akan, German, Ga, English and Dagbani. The cheers that greeted the Chinese and German readings could have brought the rafters down.

Melodious tunes, graceful dance moves and spontaneous reaction from the audience were high points for the day on which four hours passed like a twinkle of an eye. Ackah Blay and the Abiza Band provided backing for the singing groups while the Stanbic Blues, a five-man jazz band backed Nana Benneh, Head of Personal and Business Banking in his solo surprise act.

The event which had personalities such as Alhassan Andani, CEO of Stanbic Bank Ghana, some Board members, top executives and a host of others in attendance, saw a series of activities such as scripture readings and song ministrations from singing groups with names like City Tunes, Heralds of CIB, Mak Melodies, Stanbic Blues and Team Porto, just to name but a few.

The Legon Baptist Choir and Joyful Incorporated were on hand to support the largely non-professional Stanbic staff for a night that is best seen than described. A couple of sketches woven around the Christmas story were performed by a combination group of Stanbic staff and professionals from the Department of Theatre Studies led by Oh Nii Sowah.

Head of Marketing and Communications Stanbic Bank, Mawuko Afadzinu, promised that the great event would be replicated next year. “This year has been quite eventful for Stanbic Bank and we are grateful for all that God has done for us.

To our customers and staff, we say thank you for being part of this journey. With the support and interest shown by guests, we will be back next year with an even bigger show,” he said.
