Student nurses hold Face & Flex show

There was a good mix of fashion, beauty and music at the Tyco City Auditorium in Sunyani last Friday when students of the Sunyani Nurses Training College held their annual Flex and Face show to select a “king and queen” as ambassadors for the freshers.

The event, which also formed part of activities marking the Student’s Representative Council’s  Week celebrations, attracted some fine musicians including Kunta Kinte of Bradez fame, who held the students and  guests spellbound for the 15 minutes-or-so that he rocked the microphone and shook the auditorium.

Some selected students also hit the runway to exhibit their modelling skills, and it was a delight to watch the future nurses turn wannabe-models swinging their hips in some swish modelling moves.

Eight female nursing students contested for the Face crown while the same number of males competed for the Flex title.

After rounds of heated competition, Comfort Nyamekye was declared FACE of Sunyani Nursing Training College 2014. The accolade - the male student with the top Flex – went to Abel Adongo.

Comfort took home a barbecue grill, microwave oven, dinner set, a table top fridge and LCD television, while Abel received a home theatre set and LCD television. The winners, Comfort and Abel will also serve as ambassadors of Airtel and Huawei.

Patience Acheampong Tweneboah and Rosemond Animah were voted first and second runners-up respectively for the FACE category, while Samuel Adjannor and Lawrence Boateng came second and third in the Flex category.

The judges for the night included Berlinda Yeboah (Face of Ahafo 2006), Agnes Adu Asare (Face of Sunyani Nursing Training College 2011); and two patrons, Mrs Emma Bennet and Rachel Copson Kyeraa.

Face and Flex 2014 was sponsored by Airtel, UT Bank, XTRYM, DKM, Runner Restaurant & Bar and Opportunity International.
