(VIDEO) Go to the club and record — Victoria Orenze fumes at worshippers filming during ministration

Nigerian gospel singer and worship leader Victoria Orenze has taken a swipe at worshippers who prioritise recording videos on their phones over engaging in worship during a ministration.

In a video circulating online, the singer is seen confronting some members of the congregation who were attempting to record her, insisting that they put their phones away and focus on worshipping God.

“Don't use your phone. I will send you far away from here. You don't know how to respect God. Everything is about recording, yet you have nothing inside,” she said.

Orenze, known for her passionate, prayer-centred ministrations, appeared displeased with the congregation's focus on capturing the moment rather than actively participating in the worship session.

She further questioned the practice with a blunt analogy, challenging the worshippers to reconsider their approach to sacred moments.

“Do you record yourself while making love? Go to the club and record,” she added.

Her comments have drawn attention to the growing practice of filming church services and worship sessions, particularly as smartphones and social media make it easy for congregants to capture and share moments from religious gatherings.

While recording such moments allows worshippers to preserve memories and share their experiences with others, Orenze's remarks highlight concerns about whether the practice can distract people from being fully present during worship.

The singer is known for songs such as Covenant Keeping God, Spirit Chant and I Get Backing, which reflect her emphasis on prayer, intimacy with God and spiritual consecration.
