Why Justin Bieber wore red prison jumpsuit

Why was Bad Day singer Justin Bieber decked out in a red prison jumpsuit during his appearance last Thursday afternoon at the Florida Circuit Court?

Different jails have different colours to classify inmates, but in Bieber's case, it was pretty simple. Janelle Hall, community affairs unit manager at Miami-Dade County jail, confirmed to Yahoo that Justin's red jumpsuit signified that he was a "high-profile inmate."

Sometimes that could mean that the inmate would be held in isolation. Given Bieber's status and notoriety, it was likely that was the case.

Bieber was arrested in Miami Beach last Thursday for driving under the influence of alcohol and drag racing, according to Miami Beach police.

Justin's friend, R&B singer Khalil, was also arrested, with the Miami Beach Police also releasing his arrest report on Twitter.

The Miami Beach Police released what was possibly the happiest-looking mugshot in Hollywood's Hall of Shame on Twitter.

This included the reporting police officer's account of why he stopped Bieber and his friend travelling in their high performance sports cars, and how the singer resisted arrest, swearing continuously at the officer as the latter tried to check him for weapons.

Justin Bieber is alleged not to have had a driver's license and hasn't had a valid license anywhere in at least six months, according to state DMV records and Florida police.

According to a Miami Beach police report, Bieber has a driver's license from Georgia that expired on June 24, 2013.
