Kitchen time with Miss Malaika

Keeping with its promise of not only crowning a beauty queen but also finding the complete woman, the Miss Malaika beauty pageant moved the competition from the studio into the kitchen to test the culinary talents of the delegates.

The cooking session of the competition forms part of the weekly tasks and experiences that give the delegates the rare opportunity to be responsible young ladies and to also serve as role models for younger ones.

Similar tasks that delegates have engaged in during previous episodes of the show are cultural and charity tasks.

The pretty young delegates were split into three groups and it was apparent that the competition was heated as they tried to outdo each other in preparing the best meals on the day.

The skills of the delegates were put to the test and their cooking skills were greatly harnessed and by the end of the tasks, most of them had learned different ways of preparing delicious and healthy dishes.

Some of the special Ghanaian delicacies they prepared were banku with okro stew / grilled tilapia with hot pepper, and banku with chicken light soup. Their food was tasted and assessed by Chef Elijah and Kwame Dzokoto of Edziban fame.

Come Sunday, October 5, at 8.00pm, the delegates will be on the runway to exhibit made in Ghana clothes as they participate in a fashion show live at the Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi.

The 14 contestants will be graded by the judges who will compile the results as well as the results from the public votes, for the second eviction episode next Tuesday.

The grand finale of the pageant comes off on November 1 at the National Theatre.

Miss Malaika Ghana pageant airs on Sundays on Gh One TV at 8pm with eviction episodes on Tuesdays at 8:30pm.

The show is supported by RANA Motors, Royco Shrimp Cube, Ethiopian Airlines, Crown Paints and Lifestyle Gallery.
