Debate on legalising Marijuana and Gayism

Moralists and ethicists are now being challenged to provide intellectual debate on the legalisation of marijuana and homosexuality and stop playing the "God factor" on such social issues. Brilliant suggestion, isn't it?

With the rise of liberal political ideologists, as well as liberal theologians leading the advocacy on the legalisation of marijuana and homosexuality, we will need families with strong moral foundation to stem the tide and protect our children.

Already, adherents of such thoughts may be occupying strategic positions in our country. No matter how their type of activism may vaguely be familiar, when it is coupled with access to political power or when they belong to the judiciary or act as heads of educational institutions or belong to the clergy or control the media, etc liberal advocates find it easy to reach their goal of bringing unbridled liberalism into our social and cultural worlds in the name of protecting “the victimised” and the vulnerable.  Let us know that the divine transcendent source, that spawned rights for humans to protect the sanctity of life in humans, is the very source of laws which put restraints on human activities.

Intellectual debate

Part of the intellectual debate against the legalisation of marijuana is that it contains the psychoactive (mind-altering) chemicaldelta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) that affects brain development: memory, thinking, concentration, sensory and time perception.

Some may argue that marijuana has a medicinal value; yes, it does, just as some classified poisons also have medicinal values. Should we legalise poisons with medicinal value? The intellectual debate is that Ghana does not have the medical facilities and rehabilitation centres to take care of those who may fall victim to the use of the drug. The intellectual debate is that international cartels on drugs are getting more sophisticated in their operations, which puts a strain on security agencies and financial resources of nations. Is it a question of ‘if you can't beat them, join them?’ Or we just want to copy the ambiguities in western lifestyle.

The debate is that considering the financial constraint on our national budget, should we encourage a lifestyle that will certainly put much stress on our budget? And soon, budget allocation for victims of homosexual practices and wee smokers will also become an electoral issue whereas maternal health units are struggling to financially cope with labour complications and pregnancies while child health units, theatre facilities for obstetric surgical interventions are not readily available.

Female organ versus rectum

The debate is that every human part or organ was made to perform a specific function in God's own wisdom.

The female vagina has certain advantages compared to the rectum, which functions as a passage for the expulsion of faecal matter. The vaginal area does things relatively sterile as compared to the rectum.

Interestingly, even if a woman, in cleaning herself, does not do it properly, and introduces faecal matter into the vaginal area, it could lead to an infection. The composition of faecal matter involves a blend of various bacteria and other organisms.

The vagina as compared to the rectum can expand to accommodate things as large as a baby’s head and miraculously return to its normal size. This has got to do with the muscle layers and anatomy of the area as compared to the rectal anatomy, and specifically the anal canal whose sphincter is unable to go through such versatile maneuvers as the vagina.

Rectum is different

The rectum is significantly different from the vagina with regard to suitability for penetration by a penis. The vagina has natural lubricants and is supported by a network of muscles. It is composed of membranes that allow it to endure friction without damage and to resist the immunological actions caused by semen and sperm.

In comparison, the anus is a delicate mechanism of small muscles that comprises an "exit-only" passage. With repeated trauma, friction and stretching, the sphincter loses its tone and its ability to maintain a tight seal. Consequently, anal intercourse leads to leakage of faecal material that can easily become chronic.

Due to the relatively simple connection between the anus, intestines and therefore blood, any organisms that are introduced into the rectum have a much easier time establishing a foothold for infection than they would in the vagina.

The anatomy of the anal canal cannot withstand the friction associated with penile penetration, resulting in traumas that expose both participants to blood, organisms in faeces, and a mixing of bodily fluids.

Pain in anus

Interestingly, even the nerves arranged around these places vary in such a way that, with the normal passage of hard stool (constipation) the forceful dilatation of the anal sphincter causes much pain to the person. Such pains are even sometimes intolerable for those few seconds; however, the normal vagina is able to accommodate greater dimensions than that.

Anal dissatisfaction

Unlike the vagina, which was made to endure friction, the area of the rectum as a result of the pressure put on it widens and may not provide sexual satisfaction to these homosexual partners. For them to get maximum satisfaction, they resort to a homosexual activity known as fisting – insertion of the hand or forearm into the rectum. This also comes with a high prize. It leads to anal tears, etc.

Again, due to the make-up and the small size of the rectum, penis penetration then becomes difficult and so homosexuals introduce all kinds of foreign bodies like creams and oils with chemical components as well as sexual toys to have an easy passage through the rectum.

All these sexual activities, including oral sex, have very serious physical and mental effects on homosexuals which include higher incidence of sexually transmitted infections such as  syphilis, HIV, gonorrhoea, faecalincontinence.

Use of diapers

Faecalincontinence is a situation when the sphincter loses its tone and cannot hold the stool (toilet) and the person starts leaking stool without any control. This is where the person has to resort to the use of diapers. Other physical health effects include anal tears, anal cancer, anal trauma, reduced immunity, which also leads to other illnesses, decreased lifespan and of course HIV/AIDS, herpes and  oral cancers.

When homosexuals reach this point where they are faced with the realities of physical health hazards and with what they considered fantasy no more the case, they experience mental health challenges such as depression, suicidal thoughts (there is a high rate of suicide among homosexuals), mental illness, substance abuse like excessive intake of alcohol and smoking and reckless sexual behaviour.

This point plus many others rule out the use of the anal canal for sex.

Looking  at the above situations, why would any person want to subject himself to such inhuman treatment to satisfy just a momentary sexual desire?

Conclusion

The world is descending into a new incivility and parents should assume their role as the primary caretakers of their children.  Orientation of the child should, therefore, start from the home and not from any structure outside the home.

I have thrown the gauntlet on beginning the intellectual debate on marijuana and homosexuality. Who will catch it?
