The next government

As I reflect on current events in our country, Ghana, it is clear that the next government, starting from 2025, will face a myriad of challenges.

Managing citizens' expectations will, therefore, be crucial.

To overcome these challenges and to take us out of this dungeon, broad stakeholder consultations and collective efforts from all citizens will be necessary.

For policies and programmes to succeed, the government must adopt a collaborative approach, prioritising the common good. 

The public must avoid congratulatory visits to the Jubilee House by interest groups, which can be time-consuming and distracting.

It will also call for citizens' attitudinal change, driven by acceptable national values to move the nation forward.

The media, on the other hand, should move beyond the New Patriotic Party (NPP)/ National Democratic Congress (NDC) divisions and promote national interest.

Discussions on government policies should engage professionals, ensuring fair, objective, and unbiased contributions. This will maximise policy benefits for all.

The President and ministers must lead moderate lifestyles, setting inspiring examples for citizens. This will not be an envious task for the President and government.

Achieving these goals won't be easy, but with a collective effort, we can move Ghana forward.
