NPP Primaries; Cutting noses to spite faces

An extremely fascinating weekend it was for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) as it held parliamentary primaries for the general elections to be held in December 2016. My personal view of events and how they have played out in the past, and how they are likely to influence the future, is the meat of my writing today.

The epistle today will look at the single most important feature of this nationwide exercise and its most likely effect on the internal arrangements in the largest opposition as it prepares to contest the 2016 Elections.

It tells a lot about how the two major parties in this country have approached the vexed question of leadership recruitment and mentoring, and the electoral successes the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have chalked up over the years since the inception of the 4th Republic as a result of the differing approaches to leadership and electoral politics.
