See the members of US President Biden's delegation for Mahama's inauguration

In a gesture of diplomatic solidarity, United States President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. has announced the members of the Presidential Delegation who will represent his administration at the inauguration of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.

The event, set for January 7, 2025, in Accra, marks Mahama’s return to Ghana’s highest office.  

Leading the delegation is The Honorable Shalanda D. Young, Director of the United States Office of Management and Budget. A seasoned public servant, Young’s role signifies the importance Washington places on its relationship with Accra and the wider West African region.  

President Biden’s statement, released through the White House, also detailed the other distinguished members of the delegation:  

- The Honorable Virginia E. Palmer, United States Ambassador to the Republic of Ghana, whose expertise in diplomacy has reinforced Ghana-US relations during her tenure.  

- The Honorable Karen Bass, Mayor of Los Angeles, California, a prominent figure in American politics, whose participation underscores the cultural and socio-economic connections between African-American communities and the African continent. 

- The Honorable Frances Z. Brown, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for African Affairs on the National Security Council, whose presence reflects the Biden administration’s focus on African policy and strategic partnerships.  

This high-level delegation underscores the United States' commitment to fostering stronger ties with Ghana and supporting democratic governance across the region.  

As Ghanaians and global dignitaries gather to witness Mahama’s inauguration, the presence of such a prominent US delegation signals a new chapter in the enduring partnership between the two nations.
