The competition brought together 56 schools from eight communities in Accra, Burma Camp, Nungua, Dome, Adentan, Airport, Spintex Road, East Legon and Dansoman, which were eliminated at the various stages of the contest until the final four which made it to the final.

This year’s annual inter-schools quiz competition was aimed at providing a platform for the final-year students of the participating junior high schools (JHSs) to prepare for the upcoming BECE, especially in the core subjects.

The contest which was sponsored by Vanguard Life Assurance and Milo was on the theme, “Improving BECE results: the role of the pupils”.

Through the competition the contestants learnt how to work as a team while the participating schools had the opportunity to network.

The Head of Career Guidance at the Ghana Education Service (GES) of  the Accra Metro, Madam Silvia Aboagye, said since every student had goals or career choices, there was the need for each of them to study seriously towards those goals to be able to achieve them.

Nana Osei Frimpong of the Tot to Teen School was happy they won the competition because they prepared very well towards it.

“The programme has made it possible for us to identify our weak points and the areas where we need to work harder before our final examination in June,” Nana Osei added.
