World Cup begins tomorrow

The much-awaited 2014 World Cup will kick off tomorrow, June 12 with host nation, Brazil, taking on Croatia in the opening match at the 65,807-seater Arena De Sao Paulo stadium. Kick-off is at 9 p.m (Ghana time).

In all, 32 countries with a total of 736 players would be featuring in the World Cup during which 64 games would be played at the12 stadia.

The participating countries are: Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Brazil, Cameroon, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Ecuador, England, France, Germany and Ghana.

The rest are: Greece, Honduras, Iran, Italy, Ivory Coast, Japan, Mexico, The Netherlands, Nigeria, Portugal, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, USA and Uruguay.

The third place play off will be played on July 12, 2014 at 9 p.m. while the final will be played on Sunday, July 13 at 8 p.m. at Rio de Janeiro's iconic Maracana stadium.

Ghana will play the United States of America on June 12 at 11 p.m. In the second match Ghana would take on Germany on June 21 at 8 p.m. and then Portugal on June 26 at 5 p.m.
