Thousands take to streets for #DumsorMustStop demo

The highly anticipated #DumsorMustStop vigil commenced Saturday evening, with an estimated two thousand Ghanaians taking to the Legon Road in Accra to demonstrate against the worsening power crisis, which has gripped the country for over three years.

The vigil cum mass demonstration, which was engineered by award-winning actress Yvonne Nelson through a single tweet on social media, was also attended by a constellation of other Ghanian celebrities, including Prince David Osei, Elikem, Wanluv the Kuborlor, Van Vicker, and EL.

Amidst chanting and banner-waving, the protesters marched from the Legon bridge to the Tetteh Quarshie Garden Roundabout, calling for the Mahama administration to find an immediate solution to the rolling blackouts.

Participants held placards and banners reading ‘’Dumsor must stop','  ‘’We need our lights back’,’  ‘’ Dumsor is killing our businesses’’ and ‘’How long should we wait?" Others carried torch lights, candles, and lanterns.

Over 300 police personnel were present to ensure a peaceful protest.
