The MCE said it was regrettable that  the rate at which wee and cocaine trading were being conducted in the Swedru township, was alarming, and the Assembly would not allow such illicit business to continue.
Mr. Oppong sounded the warning when he addressed a stakeholders' meeting organized by the Agona West Municipal Assembly at Swedru, to brief businessmen and women, and artisans, among others, on the activities of the Assembly.
The MCE said the rate at which  the youth had resorted to the  use of hard drugs was very pathetic, and if it was not checked, the practice  could ruin their future.
According to Mr Oppong, it would  be difficult for investors to come and invest in the  area since the nefarious activities of the drug peddlers was  sending bad signals to  outsiders.
Mr. Oppong said the Assembly will work closely with the Police, Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), and other Security Agencies to first clamp down on the activities of these  drug barons, before descending on the users.
He, therefore, cautioned them to desist from the act before the law caught up with them.
Mr. Oppong disclosed that the Agona West Assembly spent about 70 percent of its total revenue received from both the  central government and development partners in 2013.
Mr. Antwi  Boasiako, Agona West Municipal Coordinating Director, told the gathering that the Assembly far exceeded its revenue target of 863,000 Ghana Cedis  as against 914, 000 Ghana Cedis  projected last year
He said the Assembly completed all proposed projects planned in the 2013 budget.
Mr Boasiako  therefore appealed  to  businessmen and women in the Municipality to pay their tolls and taxes regularly to enable the Assembly to initiate more projects to better the lot of the people.
Mr. Baba  Saeed ,  executive member of the Ghana Tailors and Dress-makers Association appealed to the Assembly members  to  hold regular meetings with their electorate, to brief about  on-going development programmes of the Assembly .
