Alleged armed robbers kill two at Aflao

­­­­­­­­­­­­­Two persons were shot dead at Abeliakope in Aflao at about 1a.m. yesterday during an alleged armed robbery.

The deceased have been identified as Habibu Issaka, 28, a mallam, and Mohamed Ustaz Musah, 35, a cassette seller. Issaka was said to have been shot in the chest, while Musah was shot in the throat. Three others sustained severe injuries.

The injured persons have been identified as Sumaila Yusif, a landlord of a compound house, who was said to have been shot in the left thigh; his wife, Amina Issaka, who was stabbed in the chest, and Seidu Ali, who was also stabbed in the arm.

The Ketu South Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Augustine Luguyare, who confirmed the incident to the Daily Graphic, said the police had started investigations into the matter but no arrest had been made.

He also said preliminary investigations indicated that the incident was a robbery attack on the people, who lived in the compound house.

Sporadic shooting

He indicated that the police received a distress call from the Assembly Member for Teshi Avedzi Electoral Area, Mr Anani Klu, that there was a sporadic shooting in the area.

According to him, when the police got to the scene, two out of the five people who were attacked had died. The three who were injured were rushed to the Ketu South District Hospital and are responding to treatment while the bodies of the three had been deposited at the hospital’s morgue.

When the Daily Graphic visited the hospital at 2:00pm, a large crowd comprising family members of the victims and sympathisers had thronged the hospital, waiting to receive the bodies for burial according to Islamic customs.
