AMA launches “Operation don’t cross the red line” to manage X’mas traffic

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has launched an “Operation don’t cross the red line” to help manage traffic congestion in the central business district of Accra during the festive celebrations.

City Mayor, Mr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije has therefore advised traders traders, motorists and pedestrians to abide by the rules government the exercise to help ensure free flow of traffic during the festive season.

The central business district of Accra is noted for heavy vehicular and human traffic in December every year a as a result of Christmas shopping.

Mr Vanderpuije who announced the measures to control traffic during a tour of the CBD said the exercise will only be successful if traders abided by the rules.

The Mayor told Graphic Online police and AMA taskforce personnel have been deployed at vantage points to ensure the free flow of traffic.
