The facilities, a three classroom block, office and a store for the Boankra Methodist Primary School and a four classroom block for Edwenase M/A, were funded from the District Development Fund.

Speaking at separate inaugural ceremonies, the Ejisu/Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Kwaku Afrifah Yamoah Ponko, emphasised the government’s commitment to develop and improve education through the provision of infrastructural facilities, computers, teaching aids and other logistics.

He said despite its financial challenges, the government would continue to improve road networks, health facilities and potable water for the people, especially those living in the rural areas, in line with its efforts to bring improvements in the lives of the people.

Advice to parents

The DCE advised parents against harassing and attacking teachers for enforcing discipline in schools, adding that the municipal directorate of education would not tolerate such unruly behaviour.

He called on people in the two communities to institute proper culture of maintenance to enhance the lifespan of the facilities, and also use them to boost teaching and learning at the beneficiary schools.

Mr L. Bukari of the Ejisu Directorate of Education of the Ghana Education Service lauded efforts by the assembly to partner the municipal directorate of education to improve educational standards in the municipality.

Nana Kwaku Nyamah II, Chief of Boankra and Nana Yaa Anosuah, queenmother of Edwenase, in separate remarks, expressed their appreciation to the government for its support and appealed to the assembly to extend the School Feeding Programme to the two communities to improve school enrolment.
