He mentioned education and health as some of the sectors that needed special attention and, therefore, entreated the minister to ensure the completion of the over three decades Maternity Ward project at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to ease the pressure on the facility.

The Asantehene further advised the minister to demonstrate effective leadership by tackling other challenges that affected the accelerated growth of the region.

Courtesy call

The Asantehene was speaking during a courtesy call on him by Mr Anarfi-Mensah. The Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Mr Kojo Bonsu; the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Mr Kofi Boakye; and other security chiefs accompanied the minister to the Manhyia Palace.

Until his appointment,  Mr Anarfi-Mensah was the headmaster of the Tepa Senior High School in the Ashanti Region.

Truth and discipline

Otumfuo Osei Tutu said truth and discipline should be the guiding principles of the minister’s stewardship as he admonished him to work with all irrespective of their political or ethnic affiliations.

He told the minister that it was better to be criticised for standing for the truth than to be applauded for championing evil.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu further asked him to be firm in his decisions once he knew he was on the right path and be prepared to crack the whip when necessary.

Mr Anarfi-Mensah pledged to work with all to enhance the development of the region.
