Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand, will welcome Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to Canada for a high-level visit on October 26, 2026, Global Affairs Canada has announced.

The visit is underpinned by what Ottawa describes as an enduring and multifaceted partnership rooted in deep people-to-people ties, strong bilateral cooperation and a shared commitment to sustainable development, democratic governance and peace and security.

The two countries collaborate closely to advance inclusive economic growth, bolster regional stability and champion multilateralism.

During the visit, Minister Anand and her Ghanaian counterpart will engage in strategic discussions encompassing bilateral, regional and global priorities, with the dialogue focusing on strengthening cooperation and building on almost seven decades of partnership between the two countries.

While in Ottawa, Minister Ablakwa will also meet with the Honourable Randeep Sarai, Secretary of State for International Development, to discuss Canada-Ghana development cooperation and opportunities to deepen the long-standing partnership in advancing mutually beneficial economic partnerships, inclusive social development and sustainable peace and security.

According to quick facts released by Global Affairs Canada, the two countries will mark 70 years of diplomatic relations in 2027.
