Hitherto, the station had been used as a thoroughfare by the public, posing a great nuisance to the work of the service.

The management of Wire Weaving Industries (WWI) Ghana Limited, which undertook the fencing as its corporate social responsibility,  formally handed over the completed project at a ceremony at the station last Friday.

The Marketing Manager of WWI, Mr Elias Ashkar, who did the handing over, said WWI was motivated to carry out the project because of the important role the police played in the security of the country.

He said world-class products of the company were used to carry out the work and expressed the hope that with the completion of the project,  “it will be impossible for the public to use the police station as a thoroughfare as used to be the practice”.

Mr Ashkar said that this was not the first time the company had undertaken a beautification project in the capital, recalling that it did similar projects at the Airport and Nima Police Stations as well as the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

He congratulated the contractors on not only completing the work on schedule but also doing so with utmost precision, adding that their attitude was in line with the vision of WWI to offer quality products at the right price and with the right level of service.

Speaking on behalf of the police, the Commander of the Cantonments Divisional Police, C/Supt Seidu thanked the management of WWI for their kind gesture and urged service personnel to ensure that the station derived maximum benefit from the project.
