Coca-Cola Ghana holds workshop for pupils in Sakumono

The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana Limited (TCCBCGL), a subsidiary of the Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company (ECCBC), has conducted a character-building training workshop for the over 600 Junior High School students of Sakumono School Complex One in Accra.

The exercise, which took place on Friday August 20, this year, forms part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

The training program, captioned, “The Coca-Cola Unearthing Greatness Workshop”, with implementation support from LeadAfrique International, a non-governmental organisation that focuses on cultivating creative and responsive leaders for Africa, sought to unearth greatness in pre-teens and teens of Sakumono School Complex One by equipping them with relevant life skills for their daily self-improvement.

The day’s training was heavily centered on understanding oneself and goal-setting, as these areas were considered critical to the self-development needs of the students.

According to the Corporate Affairs Director of ECCBC-West African Countries, Mr. Bethel Yeboah, the company decided to undertake this initiative on realizing there was the need for society to pay attention particularly to the personal development of teens, as most of them were at a time of their lives where they were puzzled with uncertainty and continued to question their self-worth.

To comply with COVID-19 safety protocols and for the effective management of the training sessions, students were put into groups and the entire workshop was executed within two hours. These interactive sessions were accompanied by practical lessons where all participants were provided with training manuals to enhance their understanding of the various subjects covered.

The company is set to deploy this training program in another school within its catchment area of Tema West in September 2021.
