Daily minimum wage now GHC 7

The National Tripartite Committee has agreed that the National Daily Minimum wage should be increased by 16.7%.

This means the daily minimum wage will now be increased from GHC 6 to GHC 7. The increment took effect from January 1, 2015. The committee has further recommended that the increment should be tax exempt.
Last week, the government began negotiating the new national minimum wage and the base pay for public sector workers for the year 2015 with labour.
The Employment and Labour Relations Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, the early announcement of a base pay and minimum wage is to help the Controller and Accountant General facilitate the payment of wages in the public sector.
