The facts of the case as presented by Detective Inspector Simon Gavor, to the court presided over by Mr Frank Gbedd, were that the complainant is a police service driver stationed at Odumase –Krobo.

The accused on the other hand is driver’s mate and lives at Sokwenya a suburb of Odumase Krobo.

Detective Inspector Gavor said on April 10, 2016, at about 6.40 a.m., the complainant and other policemen who were also witnesses in the case were on board a police service vehicle with registration number GP2578 to their usual patrol duties on the Odumase –Asesewa road to check on drivers who overloaded their vehicles, driving license, speeding and other motor offences.

He said the policemen on reaching Odumase Junction saw a driver parked at an unauthorised place and was loading passengers to Ashaiman.

He said the policemen consequently arrested the driver and brought him together with the vehicle to Odumase police station to be processed to court.

The prosecutor said when they got to the police station the complainant demanded the ignition key from the driver which he willingly gave to the complainant.

He said the accused person who was the driver’s mate got down from the vehicle held the complainant’s uniform against his neck that he would never allow the complainant to take away the ignition key to the charge office.

He said in the process the complainant’s police uniform got torn and his name tag also got broken.

The accused was therefore arrested at the station and during interrogation he admitted the offence.
