Baah, who allegedly claimed to be a policeman from Kumasi but on leave, was seen wearing a police uniform in Koforidua.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Ebenezer Tetteh, told the Daily Graphic that the policemen who conducted a search in the suspect’s room at Okorase, a suburb of Koforidua following a tip off, found a black police uniform, a blue-black police uniform, a blue-black police beret, a tag bearing the name Prince Baah with identification number 5072 and  a pair of black boots.

They also found a bayonet, specimen charge sheets, a police belt with ammunition porch containing two body sprays, which ASP Tetteh said resembled pepper spray and a police flash light.

Interrogation

ASP Tetteh said during interrogation, the suspect claimed that he got some of the items from some policemen stationed in Kumasi and Effiduase but bought the others at Asawase in Kumasi.

According to ASP Tetteh, the suspect had been wearing the police uniform for about a month now at Nkurakan, a suburb of Koforidua.

The PRO stated that at Nkurakan, a policeman invited Baah to assist him in arresting a suspect.

ASP Tetteh said when the policeman who invited the suspect requested to know the suspect’s station he responded that he was stationed at Asawase in Kumasi but was on leave in Koforidua.

Charges

The suspect had been charged with impersonation, deceit of a public officer and stealing.

According to ASP Tetteh, Baah also stole GH¢20 from a lady he proposed to during the recent Eastern Regional Trade Fair which made the lady suspicious of him and, therefore, reported his conduct to a police officer.

ASP Tetteh said following the lady’s complaint, a follow-up was made leading to the arrest of the suspect.
